This is completely normal and does not affect the performance or effectiveness of the product. The active ingredient is the live bacteria contained within the bombs, which remain fully functional regardless of the physical form.
Broken or crumbled pieces can be used in exactly the same way as intact balls — simply add the contents directly to your pond as directed.
